Betty M.

Betty was born in NC, moved here when she was 12, graduated from local Fletcher High School along with several other Senior Saints that attend Beaches Chapel, and just about every Sunday all of her "clan" that can, eat lunch with her and Bob, her husband of 57 years.

Betty is the mother of four and has 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Betty is a delight to work with and a joy to be around. She is particularly skillful with a needle and thread and has blessed hundreds of needy people in Jacksonville with the clothing she repairs at the Clothing Warehouse. In 2007 Betty attended 38 mission trips, giving 220 hours of time which is valued at $4,180. Betty has been involved with Seniors on a Mission for six years and last year invited her sister Carol to participate.

Betty enjoys being with family and friends, working in the yard (she still mows the lawn), eating oranges over the kitchen sink, walking anywhere, going to estate sales with her sister, doing the daily crossword puzzle and feeding bread to the seagulls in the street.

Her daughter Freda says..."Mama is a true Proverbs woman.  She is a behind the scenes servant.  Her tenderness, sweetness, unconditional love, unexpected humor, as well as her quiet strength are a few of her traits that have caused her children to call her blessed.  She blesses and is blessed."

“I enjoy serving the needy of our community with my sister and all my wonderful friends in Seniors on a Mission. Thank you for helping to make it possible for me to serve our community, and blessing my life too!.”
