Senior Saints at our Thank You LuncheonSenior Saints at our Thank You Luncheon

Our story begins more than 10 years ago with one woman's heart for serving and encouraging others.  Today, we serve more than 400 "Senior Saints" by providing them opportunities for local mission trips.  The end result is that our local non-profits have received more than 10,400 community service hours, while our seniors have found fulfillment, fellowship, and purpose.

Seniors on a Mission is a “team-oriented” community service opportunity for live-alone-at-home senior citizens, generally between 70 – 90 years young. Every senior involved is incorporated into a team, based upon his/her location and preference of work. Robert Kennedy said, “To be without work, to be without use to one’s fellow citizens, is to be in truth, an invisible person.” Through their effort to assist the non-profit organizations of our community, our Senior Saints not only gain a sense of self worth, they become confident. Their value to society is validated every time a person says ‘thank you’ for the work they perform at the local non-profit.

Our "teams" meet at one of nine central pick up locations and are driven in a 26-passenger, senior-friendly bus, to one of the many local non-profit organizations they help. The seniors work from approximately 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. (with a break for a provided lunch) and the work is always carefully tailored to their individual needs and abilities. At the end of the workday, the seniors are transported back to their original bus pickup locations and thanked for their invaluable service.
